In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald delves into the psychological impact of one’s environment. The characters in The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby, Tom Buchanan, and Daisy Buchanan, are all affected by their surroundings. This exemplifies how the American lifestyle, as well as the American dream, is detrimental to a person’s character. The American dream often embodies the hope of a new life filled with opportunities and happiness. Jay Gatsby was one of those light-hearted fools who believed he could have it all: fortune, fame, and love. Gatsby came from humble beginnings; he grew up in the Midwest of America, poor and resentful toward his family because of it. Here, Fitzgerald demonstrates the moral decay of Gatsby; as Gatsby committed illegal activities to achieve massive amounts of wealth and adultery with Daisy, he did not feel guilty. Now that his plan to win her heart is falling apart, he regrets his actions and tries to convince her the claims against him are false. His pursuing of the American dream led to his downfall; his status, wealth, and even his love, Daisy, all leave him. For Gatsby, the American dream stayed as it was, a dream, an unachievable pursuit of happiness. Masculinity is often connected with great fortitude and strength; in the case of Tom Buchanan, it seems true. In The Great Gatsby, Tom is characterized is a rich, snobby, and overall very pretentious man. Born into wealth, Tom was able to maintain power through both his wealth and status. Without serious boundaries he was able to do as he pleased, which eventually made him into an aggressive and morally corrupt man. Tom Buchanan is an autocrat who uses brute force to get his way; when he loses his control, he feels weakened: â€Å"He had discovered that Myrtle had some sort of life

Some parents fail daily in providing food and water for their children. These are just a few sentences that describe poverty. If we closed our eyes and envisioned poverty, we think of children in the second-largest continent, Africa, standing around with no clothes or shoes on. We think of the kids looking mal-nutritious or with other sicknesses and flies flying around their faces but they are too weak to brush them away. We think of people with no education, no skills, or no ideas. These statements are far from facts. Ever since I was a child, my teachers, friends, parents, and family have always complemented me for my kindheartedness, determination, and of course my leadership. I have never been one to judge others, I always work hard in everything I do, and love being able to be in charge. My morals were built by people that surround me, specifically family. Another problem that is here is people are not determined to fix the problems that our nation has and instead work around them. I am not one to walk around or run away from a problem, but I am determined to work hard and to not only get rid of the problem but take initiative to make sure it does not happen again. I believe that if everyone lived with this, the world ould become a better place by the minute. Unfortunately, the opposite is occurring at the moment and new problems emerge as time goes by. I am very proud of being a leader rather than a follower for many reasons. One, it gives me the opportunity to express my views, beliefs, morals, and concerns. Two, I continually try to make a difference in society for a greater good, and lastly, it gives me individuality in a good society. This good society is a major factor in many of today’s problems. People tend to do what other people do, even if it is against their personal views. This leads to many problems because leaders with the wrong ntentions can easily be followed by those who are afraid of being their own person and leadership. I am proud to be a kindhearted, determined leader and have demonstrated it in more ways than one. During my years in high school, I have led my football team to greater heights by making the play offs for the first time in many years, they also helped me to be the first male All-State player in schools history. I also helped lead my schools basketball team win the school’s first state championship in any sp ort. I have shown my leadership around the school and was given the honor to be Mr. EMCA; this ward is based on a student’s excellent Christian testimony, attitude, extracurricular involvement, and overall best represents the school and what we believe in. The award is given to one male in the senior class chosen by the faculty, staff, and administration. I love that I have been said to be a great person and that many people look up to me. I work a lot at my church also by ushering and helping keep the church clean on work days. The authors have helped me to understand the method for quantification of modeling error regarding the various models that exist for predicting the growth pattern for filamentous fungi. I have understood that the errors in the mathematical modeling arise due to uncertain colony architecture and various cellular signals, which depends upon the various environmental factors. Since there exists a gap between the modeling and reality, a unified computational framework based upon Bayesian have been developed and understood for quantification of the modeling errors and ranks were assigned to the models based on performance. Further, it was well understood that the Bayesian model is the mathematical extension of Occams razor. The paper has developed a systematic framework for comparison of the model uncertainties based on Bayesian model. Since the Bayesian model compares the real data and the data from the different models, I can use the difference between the ideal result and the real result to understand the model flaws. Apart from determination of model flaws, the work will also empower the students with the knowledge of models parameters for selection of better models. This comparison of the models will help in the achievement of the tradeoff between the data fitness and the complexity of the model. The comparison will not only help me in calibration of the models but will also help as a guiding tool for further research and refinements. This model will assist the students and researcher to understand the existing models better and will help in the construction of the better complete model in future.
